SYNOPSIS
The bill proposes toto remove the Bhogta caste from the list of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and include certain communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) for Jharkhand.

The bill proposes to include 9 communities in the list of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Jharkhand.
The communities to be included in ST list are:
- Deshwari
- Ganjhu
- Dautalbandi (Dwalbandi)
- Patbandi
- Raut
- Maajhia
- Khairi (Kheri)
- Tamaria (Tamadia)
- Puran
The bills also proposes to remove Bhogta community from the list of Schedule Caste (SC) in Jharkhand and will be considered as ST.
BACKGROUND
According to their traditional beliefs, the Bhogta people emerged from a union of religious preachers and tribal women. The children from these unions became the Bhogta people, most of whom now live in India’s eastern states of Jharkhand.
Therefore, they are removed from the list of Schedule Caste (SC) list.
